It may manifest as a powerful force that paralyzes individuals\, making it difficult for them to take action or make decisions. Alternatively\, it can subtly infiltrate the mind\, leading to feelings of passivity\, reluctance\, and a multitude of excuses that hinder personal growth and fulfillment. However\, despite the different ways anxiety presents itself\, it’s important to understand that it doesn’t have to control one’s life indefinitely. \nRecognizing the unique challenges faced by Black women in dealing with anxiety\, BMHC is excited to announce the launch of our transformative anxiety groups tailored specifically to their needs. In collaboration with counselor and coach\, Priscilla Jabouin\, BMHC will facilitate “Peace & Power: Black Women Anxiety Group” an empowering 12-week group counseling program\, from Wednesday April 3rd\, from 2-3pm\, until June 19th. \nThroughout the program\, participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment\, armed with invaluable strategies to confront and overcome their anxieties. Black girls often have a complicated relationship with their hair\, thanks to society’s narrow ideas of what “good hair” looks like. This struggle can really mess with their confidence and how they see themselves. But guess what? Black Mental Health Canada is on a mission to change that! \nHey\, parents! Let’s talk about how important hair is for Black girls’ self-esteem. Seriously\, not liking your hair can feel like not liking yourself. That’s why we’re teaming up with Parting the Roots Founder Simone Wright on April 27th to bring you “Loving My Kinks\,” a super cool workshop that’s all about embracing those beautiful curls and coils. \nIn this workshop\, young black girls will go on a journey to discover the awesomeness of their natural hair. They’ll learn to love it\, appreciate where they come from\, and deal with all the haters out there. Plus\, they’ll hear inspiring stories that’ll make them feel proud of their roots. Do you find it challenging to blend your faith-driven counseling methods with secular approaches? Are you looking for a supportive community of Christian counselors who understand the unique challenges you face and can offer guidance and support? \nBlack Mental Health Canada is aware of the complexities involved in integrating spiritual and secular counseling practices. To help address these challenges and create a supportive network\, we have collaborated with Ibukun Ogunsina\, a registered therapist and Christian counselor. We are excited to launch the Christian Counselors Support Group\, an initiative aimed at addressing the particular issues and dilemmas faced by Christian counselors operating within a secular context. This support group is designed to be a space where you can share experiences\, strategies\, and insights\, benefiting from the collective wisdom and support of peers familiar with the intricacies of managing these two realms. We invite you to join this supportive and enriching community to strengthen your practice and maintain your faith-based counseling principles. \nThis group will run on the first Monday of every month\, for 3 sessions\, with each session lasting 1.5 hours\, starting Monday\, May 6th\, from 6pm-7:30pm. This is a series of 8 to 10 sessions starting on Sunday November 3rd from 1pm-2:00pm\, and will take place all the way until January 5th. It may manifest as a powerful force that paralyzes individuals\, making it difficult for them to take action or make decisions. Alternatively\, it can subtly infiltrate the mind\, leading to feelings of passivity\, reluctance\, and a multitude of excuses that hinder personal growth and fulfillment. However\, despite the different ways anxiety presents itself\, it’s important to understand that it doesn’t have to control one’s life indefinitely. \nRecognizing the unique challenges faced by Black women in dealing with anxiety\, BMHC is excited to announce the launch of our transformative anxiety groups tailored specifically to their needs. In collaboration with Social Worker and coach\, Brittany Georgeson\, BMHC will facilitate “Overcome & Conquer: Black Women Anxiety Group” an empowering 8-10 week group counseling program\, from Wednesday October 23nd\, from 6:00pm-7:00\, until Decmber 18th. \nThroughout the program\, participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment\, armed with invaluable strategies to confront and overcome their anxieties.
