For Black women\, does self-care resemble that of other women? It may not\, and it’s essential for us to explore the distinct and culturally tailored approaches to caring for our minds\, bodies\, and souls. \nBHMC (Queens) has collaborated with Ethnotherapist and Presenter Kay Thellot to present “The Black Women’s Self-Care” experience. This transformative event is not to be missed. We’re accepting only 25 women on a first-come\, first-served basis. This is a series of 8 to 10 sessions starting on Sunday November 3rd from 1pm-2:00pm\, and will take place all the way until January 5th. We look forward to embarking on a journey of empowerment and evolution with you! \nLe self-care est devenu un terme largement utilisé\, mais comprenons-nous vraiment sa signification? Pour les femmes noires\, le self-care ressemble-t-il à celui des autres femmes? Ce n’est peut-être pas le cas\, et il est essentiel pour nous d’explorer les approches distinctes et culturellement adaptées pour prendre soin de nos esprits\, de nos corps et de nos âmes. \nBHMC (Queens) s’est associé à la psychothérapeute et présentatrice Kay Thellot pour présenter “L’expérience du self-care des femmes noires”. BMHFR aims to bridge the gap between the mental health needs of Black individuals and the available resources by offering immediate assistance until appropriate professional help or culturally tailored resources can be accessed. \nWhat makes us Different? BMHFR distinguishes itself by integrating Africentric principles and understanding into its curriculum. This approach acknowledges and addresses the distinct cultural influences and perspectives within the Black community. Key components of the program include: \n \n\n• Approaching the Person: Participants will learn how to effectively communicate with individuals experiencing mental health challenges\, while being sensitive to their cultural context and potential resistance.\n• Assessing Crisis: Training will focus on distinguishing between crisis and non-crisis situations and following appropriate protocols to assess risk.\n• Reducing Stigma: BMHFR emphasizes strategies to reduce stigma surrounding mental health within the Black community and promote open discussions\, thus normalizing mental health matters.\n• Care and Well-being: The program highlights the importance of culturally sensitive self-care practices and maintaining mental well-being within the context of the Black community.\n\n \nTarget Audience: BMHFR offers courses suitable for various audiences including workplaces\, workshops\, retail settings\, institutions\, and other environments seeking to enhance their understanding of Black Mental Health. DESCRIPTION:Fearless\, Free\, and Fierce: Overcoming Anxiety for Black Women Group\nAnxiety\, with its complex and varied manifestations\, can create significant obstacles in daily life. It may manifest as a powerful force that paralyzes individuals\, making it difficult for them to take action or make decisions. Alternatively\, it can subtly infiltrate the mind\, leading to feelings of passivity\, reluctance\, and a multitude of excuses that hinder personal growth and fulfillment. However\, despite the different ways anxiety presents itself\, it’s important to understand that it doesn’t have to control one’s life indefinitely. \nRecognizing the unique challenges faced by Black women in dealing with anxiety\, BMHC is excited to announce the launch of our transformative anxiety groups tailored specifically to their needs. In collaboration with Social Worker and coach\, Brittany Georgeson\, BMHC will facilitate “Overcome & Conquer: Black Women Anxiety Group” an empowering 8-10 week group counseling program\, from Wednesday October 23nd\, from 6:00pm-7:00\, until Decmber 18th. \nThroughout the program\, participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment\, armed with invaluable strategies to confront and overcome their anxieties.
