I design workplace wellness and sexual violence solutions for institutions and organizations in Canada and globally. Some of the problems that my clients -CEO’s, Board of Directors, Deans and Managers – are stuck on are the following: How do we support the Wellness and Mental Health needs of our staff? How do we support our colleagues that may have experienced Race-Based Stress in our organization? How do we assist our staff in Returning To Work from a leave? How do we create or revise our Mental Health and Sexual Violence/Gender-Based Violence Policies and Procedures through an Equitable Lens?

Augustine’s lived experiences resulted in him becoming a Registered Social Worker MSW and Psychotherapist, specializing in child adolescent mental health. His clinical work with Black children and youth within various institutional settings revealed critical gaps in available trauma informed services for these underserved populations. This is especially evident due for the lack of Black mental health professionals available to respond to the critical needs. WHY CHOOSE LIVEWISE? We all have a story to tell that is uniquely ours. These stories can include our positive experiences but also times when we are faced with challenges that can make us feel stressed, overwhelmed, and unmotivated. As a therapist, I am committed to providing you with a non-judgmental and safe space to tell your story. Whether you are facing a life transition, the effects of trauma, or challenges in your relationships—I want to help you to discover your strengths, embrace self-compassion, and take manageable steps towards your goals. My approach to therapy is holistic and collaborative because I recognize the importance of tailoring to the specific needs, values, and goals of each client. To do this, I draw from cognitive behavioural and emotion focused practices to restructure thoughts and emotions in order to foster healthy relationships with oneself and others. I also use somatic approaches, like mindfulness, to address the ways in which our stress and traumas can dysregulate our bodies. Through strength and solution-focused strategies, I aim to empower clients to develop the confidence and clarity that will help them to overcome any other challenge that may come their way. Regardless of the path we take, I am here to support you. If you have any questions, want information on how therapy works, or want to learn more about how I can support you, you can book a free 15-minute phone consultation.

As a Black queer social worker of Afro-Caribbean descent, I work using a strengths-based, and trauma-informed lens, with a deep commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice. Much of my experience has been working with BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, particularly navigating racial, institutional and relational trauma. But I have also worked with many other communities. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves, and I am passionate about supporting that journey. I mostly rely on emotion-focused, compassionate, somatic and mindfulness-based approaches. I am firmly rooted in abolitionist and liberation-based frameworks, and work from a place of deep love for my communities. I know that seeking support for our mental health is very vulnerable and can feel scary. So, I try my best to create both a safe and brave space where you can be yourself.

I’m a trained creative arts therapist and somatic therapy practitioner based in Tiohtia:ke/Montreal. My approach to therapy is essentially somatic, trauma-informed, person-centered and anchored in the assumptions of liberation psychology, anti-oppression & response-based practice. I have practiced drama therapy and mental health counselling in community settings, with a focus on supporting marginalized Black folks, BIPOC and QTBIPOC youth. I am committed to a decolonized or re-indigenized view of health. Instead of viewing behavior and symptoms through the lens of pathology, I ask: How has your nervous system been responding to the world around it, and why? How can we work together to build compassionate understanding for these responses, while remaining curious as to what new responses may better suit who you currently are and what you desire? Together, we can work towards your goals and support you in remembering and reconnecting to your own inherent resiliency and sacred resources for navigating all of life’s challenges. Depending on the needs of those I work with, I draw tools from different therapeutic approaches: Drama therapy, with some tools drawn from art, music and dance movement therapy Mindfulness-based techniques Person-centered therapy (humanistic) Emotion-focused therapy Solution-focused therapy Somatic and EMDR therapy Compassion-focused therapy Strength-based approach Response-based practice Internal family systems therapy (IFS) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I am currently not open to new clients in my practice. I may be open to working with new clients again by then end of summer (August 2026). If you have any questions, feel free to email me at: kathleencharlescounselling@gmail.com https://www.kathleencharles.com/

Sabrina is a mid-life woman, first-generation Canadian, racialized Black of African Caribbean ancestry. She brings both personal and professional experience into the therapy space, creating an environment that embraces all of your intersectionalities. She has 20 years of experience in social service settings both in direct care and management, supervising social workers. Over the years, Sabrina has helped adults, children, youth and families in crisis in both big city and rural communities. She has helped clients navigate trauma (acute, chronic, complex, and developmental), mental health, intimate partner violence, survivors of human trafficking, substance misuse, housing/food scarcities, grief and loss, abuse, neglect, and racism. In her practice in Mississauga, Ontario, she centers supporting women through midlife — perimenopause and menopause — whether it’s anxiety, mood swings, sadness, fatigue, irritability, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, grief/loss of identity, hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, joint pains, sexual concerns and urogenital problems. These biopsychosocial changes impact on relationships with partners/spouses, children, and at work. Women may be at the peak of their careers where demands and life stressors are at their all time high, or they may be navigating retirement. They may have children living at home or leaving home, and they may be caring for aging parents with dementia. The generation that Sabrina works with feel compelled to do everything. Life is compressed for them and confusing. Working with a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist can provide meaningful support, practical tools, and a grounded, compassionate, and deeply validating space for them during this significant life phase. Sabrina specializes in supporting persons experiencing the following: Distressing Psychological and Emotional Symptoms Associated with Perimenopause/Menopause, Caregiving for Aging Parents, Caring for People Living with Dementia, Caregiver Burden, Raising their Own Children, All While Often Managing Careers and their Own Households (Sandwich Generation), Managing Health Anxiety, Life Stages, Changes and Transitions, Stress Management, Work Stress, Critical Work Incident(s), Trauma, Racial Harm and Trauma, Navigating Relationship Issues (Personal and Professional), Nervous System Regulation, Anxiety, and Challenges Related to Grief and Loss. Sabrina uses an integrative approach that draws from evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (M-CBT), Strength-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family & Eco-Systems, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centred Approach, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion Focused Therapy, and Culturally Affirming, Trauma-Informed Perspectives, and Somatic Practices. She also supports faith-based counselling for clients who wish to bring their faith or spirituality into therapy. Sabrina supports rebalancing the body through nervous system regulation and prioritize connecting to calm influences to support co-regulation. Once the body is supported she focuses on rebalancing the mind — working with thoughts and interpretations using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Strategies. Her goal is to create a warm, safe, and attuned environment where clients feel supported, understood, and can work together towards better managing distressing symptoms, strengthening relationship with self and others, and simply feel more grounded day-to-day. If you are looking for a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist who offers trauma-informed, whole-person, culturally affirming therapy, Sabrina would be honored to walk alongside you during this significant life phase. Reach out when you’re ready to experience real support. She is located quite centrally, in Meadowvale with proximity to Highway 401 and 407, and Meadowvale Go Station. Sessions are also offered online.
