About Robert Leek I provide a practice incorporating both traditional and non-traditional forms of therapy. I am an Afrocentric practitioner committed to addressing the counseling needs of a diverse community. Currently working as a Counseling Therapist at Saint Francis Xavier University. I believe that I have come full circle in my counseling practice as I have worked in career agencies, academic agencies and have a long standing liaison with the Halifax Regional Police and the Justice system. I am believer that the solution to most issues is rooted within the individual. I provide counseling therapy to teens, adults, couples, and seniors. I am also a LGBTQ2 advocate. My belief is that we have all experienced some form of trauma in our lives whether through domestic or intimate partner abuse, or throughout childhood transition. I am passionate about helping individuals in making a positive and meaningful change in one’s life.

Sometimes life takes us in directions we never anticipated. We find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. If you’re feeling lost, anxious, exhausted, or disconnected—from yourself or others—you’re not alone. And you don’t have to face it alone. As a Registered Social Worker with over 15 years of experience, I’m here to offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can slow down, be heard, and begin to reconnect with yourself. My goal is to walk alongside you as we navigate the challenges you’re facing and work together to create meaningful, lasting change. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating a wide range of concerns, including: anxiety and depression, chronic stress and burnout, relationship and communication difficulties, life transitions (such as divorce, loss, career changes, or parenthood), low self-esteem or self-worth, identity exploration and personal growth. No matter what you’re going through, your experiences are valid—and there is support available. Therapy can be a powerful tool for making sense of your thoughts and emotions, healing from pain, building resilience, and moving toward a more grounded and fulfilling life. I believe that therapy should be as unique as the individual sitting across from me. I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I tailor each session to meet your specific needs, values, and goals. Together, we’ll identify what matters most to you, and explore the patterns, beliefs, and behaviours that may be keeping you stuck. My work is rooted in evidence-based modalities, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – to help identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, Solution-Focused Therapy – to build on your strengths and create actionable steps forward, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to support you in accepting what’s out of your control while committing to meaningful action, Integrative and trauma-informed practices – to honor your whole self, including your past experiences and nervous system responses. Above all, I strive to create a space that feels safe, compassionate, and collaborative. You are the expert of your own life—I’m here to support you in accessing that inner wisdom and developing the tools you need to move forward with more confidence and clarity.

Everyday life is hectic, and trauma has no hierarchy. An incident that means nothing to someone may be catastrophic to you. Some people may tell you..get up…some may even say you are making a mountain out of a molehill, while others may actually blame you for what happened but then who is there to help really? That’s where I come in. I am not telling you I will perfect everything, but I am telling you that I can listen to you empathetically, I can reason and walk the journey with you, I can offer you counselling modalities that can help you feel better.

Tricia is also very passionate about working with families. As she believes the family is a small unit that reflects the broader community, city, country and even the world. Therefore, by making a small change or impact on one family unit, there is potential for more significant transformation globally.

My name is Freda Bizimana and I am a Rwandan Canadian who was born and raised in Canada. I’ve completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto with a passion for working with children, youth, their families, and young adults. I have four years of experience working with Black and racialized youth in conflict with the law and supporting them with navigating the criminal justice system, school system, and conflict with peers and family. I’ve worked with youth both one-on-one and in group settings discussing topics such as identity, anger and aggression, strengths and coping skills, and healthy/ unhealthy relationships. I love to motivate and encourage others to express themselves and incorporate art such as music into the space to help clients articulate themselves. I am a big proponent of using non-traditional methods of therapy to help support and motivate clients to share their stories. The modalities I have experience working with are CBT, attachment work, and Hip-Hop Therapy. I work through an Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Black, Anti-Racist, and Trauma-Informed lens and my approach is both client-centred and strength-based. I believe my role is to support you in your journey and help you build the tools to work through any obstacle life throws at you by providing a space to express and grow. By using the strengths and skills you already have, we can build healthy coping skills that work for you so you can continue practicing self-care and self-love.

Hello, my name is Simone Donaldson and I believe that we often forget that we already possess the answers , strengths, and capability to navigate difficult times, and my hope is to guide people to and through these answers. I also believe if we reminded ourselves that we are inherently valuable and created for a purpose, we would tap into our most healed selves, allowing us to thrive. Psychotherapy is transformational work for the mind, body and soul. I have seen personally and professionally where mental health support can truly change whole lives, and when neglected, completely deteriorate lives. I entered this work, because even at a young age, I was always drawn to ensuring others felt seen, heard, valued and well. I am both an advocate and nurturer at heart. I have my Bachelor’s Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and Master’s from Dalhousie University, which has significantly helped shape my practice, along with lived experiences. I address a variety of concerns including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship conflict, grief, racial trauma, and domestic violence to name a few. I am an eclectic worker and use a variety of modalities which include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) & Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). I am truly excited to support you on your healing journey.
