I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist whose work is rooted in Black mental health, trauma‑informed care, and anti‑oppressive practice. I support clients with compassion, cultural humility, and a deep understanding of how identity, systemic barriers, and lived experience shape emotional wellbeing. I create a space where clients can show up fully without shrinking, and without having to explain their existence. My approach honours the strength, resilience, and complexity within Black communities while also acknowledging the impact of racism, intergenerational trauma, migration stories, family expectations, and the pressure to “hold everything together.” I work collaboratively with clients navigating anxiety, stress, identity exploration, life transitions, and the emotional weight of being “the strong one.” I integrate strengths‑based practice, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and culturally responsive frameworks to help clients reconnect with themselves, build coping strategies, and move toward healing at their own pace. I am committed to providing therapy that is affirming, accessible, and grounded in dignity and respect. Tamara is currently accepting clients and offers a warm, non‑judgmental space for Black individuals seeking support, clarity, and healing.
