Care Cultivator is a perinatal psychotherapy service providing perinatal support to Black fathers.
Fathers also have the risk of experiencing ‘postpartum depression’.
Another term for this experience is Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD), as you can experience low mood and increased worry at any stage of your parenting journey.
Fathers are as deserving of specialized care and support as mothers during this chapter in life.
Investing in your mental health before and after your child’s birth allows you to gain confidence in parenting, break cycles, and provide the nurturing care necessary for your family (and yourself).

Establishing an environment where clients feel safe to share their story is of paramount importance. My approach to therapy is from a trauma-informed lens, a person-centred approach, and by utilizing evidence based modalities. I have experience journeying with clients from diverse backgrounds and with those who have experienced trauma, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and with patients and their families in an in-patient setting. I am an integrationist, because I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all approach.
I have a certificate in trauma-informed CBT, Levels 1 & 2 in EMDR, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP II), Prepare-Enrich, and have utilized other modalities such as Bowenian Family Systems Therapy, Existential Therapy, and DBT in an integrative way. I have also worked with survivors of sex trafficking for over a decade.
Your story is unique. I would be honoured to gently hold your story and journey alongside you, as you navigate through your life’s challenges. Be prepared to be gently challenged, and work on moving you closer to your therapeutic goals through talk therapy and/or experientially through EMDR.

**OFFERING VIRTUAL THERAPY ACROSS ONTARIO**
I work with clients who are unhappy, distressed, or stuck as a result of molding themselves to fit expectations that others have of them and struggle with being themselves in their relationships. I help you become more firm and secure in who you are: your authentic selves and self-expression so that you can cultivate relationships that honour these things.
As a Black woman and trained Couple and Family Therapist, I approach therapy relationally and systemically. This means that I pay attention to how your contexts (e.g. society, culture, relationships, etc.)-past and present- influence your experience in various aspects of your life, including your mental wellbeing and relationships.
I work with you to support you in moving from where you are now to where you want be; we examine what might be getting in the way of you reaching that place and how you can navigate these challenges in ways that honour your authenticity.
My approach is grounded in the strong values I hold around social justice, anti-oppressive and trauma informed practice, intentionality, humour, and the therapeutic relationship.
I invite you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we would be a good fit.
