ANXIETY is a natural response to stress, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can interfere with daily life. For Black Canadian women, anxiety may stem from various factors, including racial discrimination, cultural pressures, and the challenges of balancing work, family, and personal well-being. Anxiety can present itself in various ways, such as feeling constantly worried, restless, or experiencing physical symptoms like headaches, rapid heart rate, or difficulty concentrating.
For example, you might feel anxious before a major life event, or perhaps you’ve been feeling tense and unable to relax for an extended period. Anxiety can make it hard to engage in daily tasks and may affect your relationships, sleep, and overall health.
Introducing the Queens Anxiety Group for Black Women
Queens is excited to launch an anxiety support group specifically for Black women who could benefit from group counseling led by an expert in this field. The group will run for 10 sessions, providing a safe and supportive space for participants to share their experiences, learn tools to manage anxiety, and build connections with others who understand their journey.
The goal of this group is to ensure that women feel supported and leave with practical strategies for coping with anxiety, as well as the potential to form meaningful friendships along the way.
