My journey into psychotherapy is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and passion for helping others. At the tender age of six, I witnessed the horrors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, an event that took my parents’ lives and the majority of my family members and left me and my siblings to navigate life amidst profound trauma and loss. Growing up in orphanages and foster homes, I faced challenges that far exceeded typical childhood experiences. Despite these adversities, I found hope, resilience, and purpose. Migrating to Canada from Rwanda in 2010 marked a turning point in my life. My journey’s struggles and triumphs have shaped my commitment to mental health advocacy and my desire to support others through their own healing processes. I believe in the power of transformation and the human spirit’s ability to overcome even the most challenging circumstances. Approach to Therapy: As a therapist fluent in French and English, my therapy approach is trauma-informed and person-centered. I offer culturally sensitive therapy tailored to diverse clients, BIPOC, Afro-Black communities, and beyond. Drawing from a rich background in Clinical Counselling, my therapy is tailored to individual needs. It blends psychoeducation on brain health with evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, MBCT, ITATM, and trauma-focused therapies. I offer a supportive space to explore life challenges and improve cognitive functioning. I confidently utilize an integrative psychotherapy approach to support my clients, whether they desire to incorporate Christian faith into their therapy sessions or not. My expertise allows me to serve individuals with or without a faith-based focus, providing comprehensive care tailored to their specific needs. I understand that your journey is unique. I look forward to journeying with you through life’s challenges with empathy and compassion. Your story is unique, and I would be honored to journey with you.

NOTE: Not currently accepting new clients. I work with Black and racialized clients who are discontent, distressed, or stuck as a result of molding themselves to fit expectations others have of them and struggle with being themselves in their relationships and other contexts they are a part of. I help you become more secure in who you are: your authentic selves and self-expression so that you can cultivate relationships with yourself and others that honour these things. As a Black woman and trained Couple and Family Therapist, I approach therapy relationally and systemically. This means that I pay attention to how your contexts (e.g. society, culture, relationships, etc.)-past and present- influence your experience in various aspects of your life, including your mental wellbeing and relationships. I work with you to support you in moving from where you are now to where you want be; we examine what might be getting in the way of you reaching that place and how you can navigate these challenges in ways that honour your intersecting identities and values. My approach is grounded in the values I hold around intersectionality and social justice, anti-oppressive and trauma informed practice, humour, and the therapeutic relationship. I invite you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we would be a good fit.

Whatever you’re struggling with, you don’t have to deal with it alone. It’s possible to heal from trauma, find internal peace, and learn new skills that help you transform into the person you want to be and step into the life you want to have. It takes courage to seek support and work through your problems, but with time and commitment, therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. I compassionately treat you as a whole person rather than just a diagnosis; warmly acknowledging and affirming important aspects of your identity such as race, gender, and sexual orientation. I believe in having an honest, collaborative partnership where we work together to resolve your concerns, processing trauma and regulating difficult emotions. I believe that providing a safe and nonjudgmental space is essential to the therapeutic relationship, so rest assured that you can entrust me with your most painful stories. I’m here to support you in recognizing and building upon your strengths as we collaboratively develop strategies to improve your life in meaningful ways.
