Reaching out for counselling is a meaningful step, and it looks different for everyone. I believe healing happens when people feel safe, seen, and supported in ways that honour their unique stories. I strive to offer a therapeutic space where you can explore challenges openly and move toward greater clarity and balance. I have extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, women, and families across the lifespan. My work is focused on trauma-informed, culturally responsive counselling. I have extensive experience supporting women through the perinatal period and working with single mothers navigating complex life transitions. I also have experience supporting individuals impacted by gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence and human trafficking. I bring a compassionate, strengths-based approach to therapy, grounded in an understanding of how trauma, systemic oppression, and lived experience shape mental health and wellbeing. I support clients navigating trauma recovery, self-esteem, identity, life transitions, and emotional regulation, while fostering safety, empowerment, and resilience. As a mother of two and a professional deeply committed to holistic care, I have a strong interest in perinatal and family mental health. My practice is guided by anti-oppressive, client-centered principles and a deep respect for each person’s cultural context, values, and voice.

I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist whose work is rooted in Black mental health, trauma‑informed care, and anti‑oppressive practice. I support clients with compassion, cultural humility, and a deep understanding of how identity, systemic barriers, and lived experience shape emotional wellbeing. I create a space where clients can show up fully without shrinking, and without having to explain their existence. My approach honours the strength, resilience, and complexity within Black communities while also acknowledging the impact of racism, intergenerational trauma, migration stories, family expectations, and the pressure to “hold everything together.” I work collaboratively with clients navigating anxiety, stress, identity exploration, life transitions, and the emotional weight of being “the strong one.” I integrate strengths‑based practice, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and culturally responsive frameworks to help clients reconnect with themselves, build coping strategies, and move toward healing at their own pace. I am committed to providing therapy that is affirming, accessible, and grounded in dignity and respect. Tamara is currently accepting clients and offers a warm, non‑judgmental space for Black individuals seeking support, clarity, and healing.

Sabrina is a first-generation Canadian racialized Black woman of African Caribbean ancestry. She brings both personal and professional experience into the therapy space, creating an environment that embraces all of your intersectionalities. She has 19+ years of experience in social service settings both in direct care and management, supervising social workers. Over the years, Sabrina has supported vulnerable children and adults who have experienced trauma and who live with secondary post-traumatic stress symptoms and disorders. At her practice in Mississauga, Ontario, she works with adults (18+) who are experiencing anxiety, stress, critical work incident(s), life changes/transitions, career and relationship challenges, trauma, adjustment difficulties, chronic stress, racial harm and racial trauma, guilt, poor self-esteem, imposture syndrome, women’s health such as perimenopause/menopause mental health concerns, fibroids, endometriosis, and caregiver burden such as caring for a loved one living with dementia, or any life altering conditions. Sabrina uses an integrative approach that draws from evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (M-CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Strength-based, Narrative, Family & Eco-systems, Culturally Affirming, Faith-based perspectives and more. Rather than focusing solely on insight or verbal processing, through somatic practices, she invites the body’s implicit memories and responses into the therapeutic process. She also supports faith-based counselling for clients who wish to bring their faith or spirituality into therapy. Her goal is to create a warm, safe, and attuned environment where clients feel supported and understood as they work together toward healing, resilience, and growth. Reach out when you’re ready to experience real support. She is located quite centrally, in Meadowvale with proximity to Highway 401 and 407, and Meadowvale Go Station. Sessions are also offered online.

Mental health is complex and a one size fits all model to support clients is not feasible. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and educator committed to applying an anti-oppressive practice (AOP) and trauma-informed care while working with individuals, families and couples. I strive to create brave spaces where all aspects of an individual can be explored and understood without judgement. With this curiosity, I seek to explore new narratives with clients rooted in hope, resilience and strength. I utilize a strength-based, culturally responsive and decolonizing approach and have extensive clinical work supporting newcomers, survivors of gender-based violence, and diverse populations in community settings.
