With over eight years of experience in counselling, Jumai works with adults to develop the tools and skillsets needed to better understand their past and present so they can begin building a balanced future. Jumai can help you build your sense of self-awareness, and self-esteem and also make improvements in your relationships. She uses a variety of techniques to support you, two of them being Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which are both very effective in addressing the impacts of traumatic events in your past.
In sessions, Jumai uses a client-centered approach meaning you are supported in learning to lead your own care and treated as a human first, client second. After discussing your areas of focus during your initial session, she will assist you in creating a specialized treatment plan, and help you move forward with approaches that fit your needs. She uses strengths-based and self-compassionate approaches to therapeutic interventions. Jumai is an advanced practitioner of narrative therapy, often using an Afrocentric or Aboriginal lens. Jumai believes everyone should have the opportunity to get help when they are ready and is energized by those looking for an opportunity to change.

I have always been drawn to the places where people work hard, dream big, and carry stories that are often heavier than they show. That path led me into psychology, and later into the world of high-performance sport and the creative arts. Today I work as a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with a focus in Sport Psychology, Registered Psychotherapist, and Certified Mental Performance Consultant, where I spend my days helping people find steadiness, clarity, and confidence in the moments that matter most. I serve as the Mental Health and Performance Lead for York United FC in the Canadian Premier League, and I also support athletes through the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Game Plan program. I also support people working in dance, animation, and video game design, and I have worked with Olympic and national-level athletes, varsity and professional athletes, ballet students, and professional dancers.
My work with athletes and performers comes from a belief that people are more than the roles they hold or the results they produce. I have always seen athletes, dancers, and creative professionals as whole people with needs that exist both inside and outside of their sport or art form. This guides the way I support clients as they navigate confidence, competitive anxiety, focus under pressure, recovery after setbacks, and the everyday challenges that shape who they are. I work with athletes who compete in time-based sports, such as those in track and field and swimming, team sports, such as those in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and hockey, and those in combat sports/ martial artists, such as those in taekwon-do and karate, and artistic performers, including ballet dancers and gymnasts. I also partner with coaches and organizations to support communication, leadership, and performance culture so training environments feel stable, trusting, and supportive. If you are looking for support in your mental health or performance journey, I would be glad to meet with you.
Assessment Services
I offer comprehensive psychological assessments for individuals ages 12 to 65. My assessment process is collaborative and supportive, with a focus on understanding each person’s strengths, challenges, and day to day experiences. I draw on evidence based tools and clinical interviewing to clarify concerns related to attention, learning, mood, anxiety, trauma, and overall mental health, and to develop clear and meaningful recommendations that can guide treatment, academic or workplace supports, and performance planning. Whether someone is questioning ADHD symptoms, struggling with concentration or motivation, noticing changes in mood or anxiety, or wanting a better understanding of how they function under pressure, my goal is to offer clarity and a path forward that feels practical and validating.

I come from a Caribbean background and was born and raised in Canada. I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, taking walks and trips to the park. I have a life-long interest in human abilities and behaviour, which has evolved to include working with neurodiverse individuals and their families. Along my journey, I had the opportunity to volunteer with the Certified Listeners Society where I provided emotional support to individuals while encouraging self-awareness and enhancing self-discovery. This experience has brought me to the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy, where I want to continue learning, growing, and making a difference.
I believe individuals can make changes throughout their healing journey but sometimes require assistance to navigate life’s challenges. I work from a place of non-judgement and empowerment while using an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens. I will consider and celebrate the diverse cultures and spectrum of sexualities individuals identify with, focusing on being an ally to Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC), immigrants, and refugees.
I work from a client-centred and strength-based framework, where I practise an eclectic approach to therapy using modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focussed Therapy while incorporating Mindfulness, with the overarching goal of collaborating with individuals to become the best versions of themselves. I work with individuals navigating major life changes, experiencing perinatal challenges, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship problems, low self-esteem, and communication difficulties.
I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and welcomed. Throughout your time with me, I hope we can build and maintain a positive therapeutic relationship together, where I can support you building positive habits, making healthier choices and live a life filled with balance and growth.

🌿 About R.E.A.C.H. Therapy & Consultation Service
R.E.A.C.H. Therapy & Consultation Service is guided by a mission rooted in empathy, compassion, and meaningful self-expression. R.E.A.C.H. stands for Rise & be Empowered – Accept & Commit to Healing, reflecting our belief that healing is relational, ongoing, and deeply connected to dignity, identity, and community.
Our counselling and consultation spaces are person-centred and story-informed, honouring each person’s lived experiences, histories, and ways of knowing. We believe people are experts in their own lives, and therapy is a collaborative process that centres consent, choice, and connection.
In sessions, individuals and families are supported to explore thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns in ways that feel respectful and empowering. Together, we work to understand patterns that may feel limiting, while nurturing strengths, resilience, and new ways of relating to self and others. Our approaches are grounded in culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-informed practices, shaped by relational and decolonial frameworks.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we centre well-being, meaning, and connection. Individuals and families may experience reduced distress and increased clarity, confidence, and capacity to move toward their personal, relational, and life goals. We support people in building tools to navigate emotions, relationships, and life transitions in ways that align with their values, culture, and community contexts.
At R.E.A.C.H. Therapy, healing is understood as personal and collective. We honour diverse identities, cultures, spiritualities, and ways of being, and we walk alongside participants in ways that foster empowerment, belonging, and self-determined growth.
