With over eight years of experience in counselling, Jumai works with adults to develop the tools and skillsets needed to better understand their past and present so they can begin building a balanced future. Jumai can help you build your sense of self-awareness, and self-esteem and also make improvements in your relationships. She uses a variety of techniques to support you, two of them being Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which are both very effective in addressing the impacts of traumatic events in your past.In sessions, Jumai uses a client-centered approach meaning you are supported in learning to lead your own care and treated as a human first, client second. After discussing your areas of focus during your initial session, she will assist you in creating a specialized treatment plan, and help you move forward with approaches that fit your needs. She uses strengths-based and self-compassionate approaches to therapeutic interventions. Jumai is an advanced practitioner of narrative therapy, often using an Afrocentric or Aboriginal lens. Jumai believes everyone should have the opportunity to get help when they are ready and is energized by those looking for an opportunity to change.

I’m Renee Raymond, a Registered Psychologist (CPBAO and CAP), Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO), and Certified Mental Performance Consultant, who is dedicated to helping individuals reach peak performance and mental well-being. I aim to not only support my clients on their unique journeys on and off the field but also to empower them to recognize their innate worth. I support Olympic, Paralympic, professional, and varsity athletes, as well as dancers and performers. I serve as the Mental Health & Performance Lead with York United FC and consult with Game Plan, an initiative of the Canadian Olympic Committee. My approach leverages clients’ life experiences to promote self-realization, balance, and the confidence to reach their full potential. With firm roots in sports psychology and personal experience as a former athlete, I have long understood mental health’s essential role in athletic performance. I believe in the transformative power of a holistic approach. My qualifications include a Doctorate in Psychology and a Certificate in Sport Psychology from California Southern University, an MS in Clinical Psychology from Walden University, a Specialized Honors Degree in Kinesiology and Health Science/Psychology from York University, and an Advanced Certificate in Couple & Family Therapy from the University of Guelph. I’m also an EMDR Certified Therapist, with training in perinatal mental health. Finally, I’m a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.Together, we tackle challenges head-on. My practice blends conventional therapeutic methods with a focus on mental and high performance, creating opportunities for growth through challenges like anxiety, depression, injury recovery, trauma, cultural issues, and eating disorders. My goal has always been to offer a safe, validating space where clients feel supported to grow, develop resilience, and connect with their inner strength—reflecting their best selves in life. I’m here to help you see and achieve your potential. Each client journey is unique and so too are the factors that makes each person who they are. As the daughter of Jamaican and Trinidadian immigrants, I value the importance of culturally-integrative care in the therapeutic experience. I take an anti-oppressive and culturally-sensitive approach to my work, exploring these and the many intersections that each client holds along with the work that we do together. The richness of our different backgrounds should never be a barrier to receiving a satisfying therapy experience.

I come from a Caribbean background and was born and raised in Canada. I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, taking walks and trips to the park. I have a life-long interest in human abilities and behaviour, which has evolved to include working with neurodiverse individuals and their families. Along my journey, I had the opportunity to volunteer with the Certified Listeners Society where I provided emotional support to individuals while encouraging self-awareness and enhancing self-discovery. This experience has brought me to the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy, where I want to continue learning, growing, and making a difference.I believe individuals can make changes throughout their healing journey but sometimes require assistance to navigate life’s challenges. I work from a place of non-judgement and empowerment while using an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens. I will consider and celebrate the diverse cultures and spectrum of sexualities individuals identify with, focusing on being an ally to Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC), immigrants, and refugees.I work from a client-centred and strength-based framework, where I practise an eclectic approach to therapy using modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focussed Therapy while incorporating Mindfulness, with the overarching goal of collaborating with individuals to become the best versions of themselves. I work with individuals navigating major life changes, experiencing perinatal challenges, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship problems, low self-esteem, and communication difficulties.I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and welcomed. Throughout your time with me, I hope we can build and maintain a positive therapeutic relationship together, where I can support you building positive habits, making healthier choices and live a life filled with balance and growth.
