Loving My Kinks!

April 27 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm UTC+0

Loving My Kinks!

“Ugh, my hair is the worst!” Sound familiar? Is this a common complaint from your daughter, niece, or another family member? Black girls often have a complicated relationship with their hair, thanks to society’s narrow ideas of what “good hair” looks like. This struggle can really mess with their confidence and how they see themselves. But guess what? Black Mental Health Canada is on a mission to change that!

Hey, parents! Let’s talk about how important hair is for Black girls’ self-esteem. Seriously, not liking your hair can feel like not liking yourself. That’s why we’re teaming up with Parting the Roots Founder Simone Wright on April 27th to bring you “Loving My Kinks,” a super cool workshop that’s all about embracing those beautiful curls and coils.

In this workshop, young black girls will go on a journey to discover the awesomeness of their natural hair. They’ll learn to love it, appreciate where they come from, and deal with all the haters out there. Plus, they’ll hear inspiring stories that’ll make them feel proud of their roots. This workshop is all about boosting their confidence, helping them see themselves in a positive light, and embracing their gorgeous kinks.

To be eligible for this group, participants must be aged 12 or younger, identify as Black, and have the ability to engage on a virtual platform with their peers. So, what are you waiting for? Sign up your daughters for this empowering experience today!
