Thank you so much for visiting my page. I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, having received a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. I ground my practice in social constructivism, and I draw from a diverse range of interventions, from Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) and psychodynamic orientations. I have received training and supervision and continue to pursue training in several CBT and psychodynamic orientated interventions and structured therapy models to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I have worked with individuals from all walks of life who have endured various challenges and have had different expectations out of therapy. I have worked with people who needed some short-term support, long-term support and everything in between. When working with clients who have never been to therapy before, one of my goals in our work is to explore their understandings of therapy and therapists. Regardless of how long we work together, I feel it is important for me to impart on all clients their level of comfort with their therapist should always be a priority.
Two principles also guide my work as a therapist. First, I see my clients as the expert of their life, and view my role within the therapy journey as levering my professional knowledge to your benefit. Second, recovery is rarely a linear process, and the unpredictable nature of life can influence it. I seek to normalize the complexity of life, encourage self-compassion, and affirm the glimmers of your strengths and resiliency that come up when talking about the past, and over the duration of our work. These principles are critical to the maintenance of a therapeutic alliance that is respectful of your intersecting identities, and safely invites you to make explicit any thoughts, emotions, and feelings that are critical to understanding how I can best be of help.
I would be more than happy to discuss what you hope to get out of therapy. If you are interested in connecting further, please click below to book a free consultation with me.

Augustine Jatoe started LiveWise Associates in 2005. He was born in Ghana, West Africa and lived in London England for more than 8 years before immigrating to Toronto Canada in 1988.
Augustine’s lived experiences resulted in him becoming a Registered Social Worker MSW and Psychotherapist, specializing in child adolescent mental health.
His clinical work with Black children and youth within various institutional settings revealed critical gaps in available trauma informed services for these underserved populations. This is especially evident due for the lack of Black mental health professionals available to respond to the critical needs.

When I think about therapy, I imagine my client’s search for well-being and healing as if they were lost and trying to find their way home. You might know where home is, but find yourself stuck in darkness, not being able to find your way. As your therapist, I see myself holding the flashlight. You are the one who knows your way to healing, and I have the tools to help get you there easier.
This is what I believe therapy looks like; us walking together on your journey. As we travel together to help you find “home”—your place of healing, peace, and comfort—while I share my knowledge and tools to help you find that “home”. On our way, we may chat about life, loss, grief, and challenges, while also about hope, meaning, resilience, acceptance, and growth!
As a therapist, I have helped many individuals, couples, and families. I often work on relationship issues, trauma, difficulty connecting with others, impulsivity, conflict, communication, loneliness, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, immigration and acculturation, and multicultural stress.
I believe we are influenced by the context we live in. As a systemic therapist (and the person who is shedding light on our way home), I can help you understand the impact of your environment and history in the challenges you are experiencing. I integrate methods such as Narrative therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialogic/Collaborative Therapy to help you find meaning for the past, connect with your present emotions, and build solutions for the future.
Congratulations to you for making the hardest, yet most important step toward positive change: finding a therapist for yourself. I offer a free consultation, so please contact me if you like to chat about therapy!

I share a common human experience with the individuals I work with and I can appreciate each person’s journey. Maybe you are considering therapy to connect with someone non-judgmental and outside your personal support system; you are feeling uneasy or worrying about life’s situations; you are withdrawing from others and no longer find joy in things that brought you pleasure; substance use or a habitual behaviour is getting in the way of meaningful relationships and meeting life’s challenges; you experienced a major event in your life and you are feeling overwhelmed. We will endeavour to understand these challenges and I will support you in taking steps that would benefit you.
I use a variety of therapeutic styles – dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, internal family systems, emotion focused therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, harm-reduction, brief solution focused therapy and the triphasic model of trauma therapy. We will collaborate on a therapeutic plan and strategies to practice that would benefit you on your journey.
To learn more about my offerings to individuals, couples and families, please visit my webpage and connect with me by phone or email. You can book a free 15-minute consultation session and I’d be happy to support you in taking the next step on your journey.

Some people have been dealt a difficult hand in life which can make pushing forward seem impossible. Challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and relational issues can be hard for people to navigate alone. I believe each person has the ability and skill to be able to help themselves, and it is my role to help support people in that process. My job is not to “fix” you, but to guide and assist you in becoming your best self.
I have worked in both clinical and community settings with individuals, families, children, and youth from various ages and backgrounds and have learned much about the strength of the people I have worked with.
I am a calm, non-judgmental individual that will offer you the space to explore your emotions and internal questions. Trust is an important element to building a healthy therapeutic relationship, and I am committed to ensuring the people I work with feel emotionally safe and comfortable. I utilize a strength-based, trauma-informed collaborative approach to therapy. I am not the expert on your life, you are! My goal is to create a plan with my clients to find solutions to address the challenges in their lives. These solutions are created to be tangible and sustainable, all while being sensitive to how past experiences have shaped you. I help people unlearn habits that may no longer serve them and help them acquire new skills. I do this by using an eclectic approach to therapy to decide what method works best to achieve your goals, because one size does not fit all. Cultural sensitivity, humility and awareness are important elements ingrained in how I practice and I am committed to seeing people from a holistic perspective, because people are complex and multi-dimensional.
You don’t have to go through the tough times alone, and if you’re considering therapy, it can be the catalyst to helping you start or continue your healing journey. Ultimately, my hope is for you to receive the support you need. If you think I could be the right therapist for you, please feel free to book a session with me directly, or book a free 15-minute phone consultation if you have any further questions. Even if I may not be the right fit for you, I’d be happy to connect you to someone else who is. Thank you, and I’m looking forward to working together!

My name is Freda Bizimana and I am a Rwandan Canadian who was born and raised in Canada. I’ve completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto with a passion for working with children, youth, their families, and young adults. I have four years of experience working with Black and racialized youth in conflict with the law and supporting them with navigating the criminal justice system, school system, and conflict with peers and family. I’ve worked with youth both one-on-one and in group settings discussing topics such as identity, anger and aggression, strengths and coping skills, and healthy/ unhealthy relationships. I love to motivate and encourage others to express themselves and incorporate art such as music into the space to help clients articulate themselves. I am a big proponent of using non-traditional methods of therapy to help support and motivate clients to share their stories.
The modalities I have experience working with are CBT, attachment work, and Hip-Hop Therapy. I work through an Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Black, Anti-Racist, and Trauma-Informed lens and my approach is both client-centred and strength-based.
I believe my role is to support you in your journey and help you build the tools to work through any obstacle life throws at you by providing a space to express and grow. By using the strengths and skills you already have, we can build healthy coping skills that work for you so you can continue practicing self-care and self-love.
