Some people have been dealt a difficult hand in life which can make pushing forward seem impossible. Challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and relational issues can be hard for people to navigate alone. I believe each person has the ability and skill to be able to help themselves, and it is my role to help support people in that process. My job is not to “fix” you, but to guide and assist you in becoming your best self. I have worked in both clinical and community settings with individuals, families, children, and youth from various ages and backgrounds and have learned much about the strength of the people I have worked with. I am a calm, non-judgmental individual that will offer you the space to explore your emotions and internal questions. Trust is an important element to building a healthy therapeutic relationship, and I am committed to ensuring the people I work with feel emotionally safe and comfortable. I utilize a strength-based, trauma-informed collaborative approach to therapy. I am not the expert on your life, you are! My goal is to create a plan with my clients to find solutions to address the challenges in their lives. These solutions are created to be tangible and sustainable, all while being sensitive to how past experiences have shaped you. I help people unlearn habits that may no longer serve them and help them acquire new skills. I do this by using an eclectic approach to therapy to decide what method works best to achieve your goals, because one size does not fit all. Cultural sensitivity, humility and awareness are important elements ingrained in how I practice and I am committed to seeing people from a holistic perspective, because people are complex and multi-dimensional. You don’t have to go through the tough times alone, and if you’re considering therapy, it can be the catalyst to helping you start or continue your healing journey. Ultimately, my hope is for you to receive the support you need. If you think I could be the right therapist for you, please feel free to book a session with me directly, or book a free 15-minute phone consultation if you have any further questions. Even if I may not be the right fit for you, I’d be happy to connect you to someone else who is. Thank you, and I’m looking forward to working together!

My name is Freda Bizimana and I am a Rwandan Canadian who was born and raised in Canada. I’ve completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto with a passion for working with children, youth, their families, and young adults. I have four years of experience working with Black and racialized youth in conflict with the law and supporting them with navigating the criminal justice system, school system, and conflict with peers and family. I’ve worked with youth both one-on-one and in group settings discussing topics such as identity, anger and aggression, strengths and coping skills, and healthy/ unhealthy relationships. I love to motivate and encourage others to express themselves and incorporate art such as music into the space to help clients articulate themselves. I am a big proponent of using non-traditional methods of therapy to help support and motivate clients to share their stories. The modalities I have experience working with are CBT, attachment work, and Hip-Hop Therapy. I work through an Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Black, Anti-Racist, and Trauma-Informed lens and my approach is both client-centred and strength-based. I believe my role is to support you in your journey and help you build the tools to work through any obstacle life throws at you by providing a space to express and grow. By using the strengths and skills you already have, we can build healthy coping skills that work for you so you can continue practicing self-care and self-love.

Let’s be honest, life is hard, and in many ways, we juggle more today than we ever have! Unfortunately, life’s challenges can leave us feeling stressed, confused, de-motivated—and in some cases, even helpless and hopeless. It can be a tough road to travel, and unfortunately, many folks feel like they’re walking that path alone, unsure of who to turn to or what to do next. As a therapist, I don’t think anyone should feel that way, so in my work, I commit to supporting my clients, guiding them, and connecting them to resources that can benefit them. With past experience working with youth, students, adults, and parents, I enjoy collaborating with clients on a variety of challenges. From addressing past and current traumas to coping with physical and mental barriers, stress, anxiety, depression, family or career changes, I’ve helped clients find systems that work for them and achieve long-lasting change. Of course, there may be multiple layers to the challenges you face, and as a woman of colour, I know firsthand how some barriers can make circumstances feel particularly difficult or challenging to navigate. As a result, my goal is to consistently be there for my clients, help them consider various options and perspectives, work with them through the trials and tribulations, and remain a constant source of support, empathy and hope. At the end of the day, I consider it a privilege to do the work I do and I would be honoured to work with you! Through our time together, it’s my hope that you feel like you’re building a stronger sense of confidence, clarity and community and that ultimately, you walk away feeling more capable and ready to take on whatever’s next. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to any new clients and would be happy to respond to any inquiries via phone or email. Thank you, and I look forward to working with you!

I am an Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppressive Educator and Life Coach, specializing in Conflict Resolution that utilizes an Anti-Oppressive framework. I’m a passionate observer of how theoretical discourse lags behind the expertise of lived experience. I couch my Anti-Racism education in an Anti-Oppressive framework; with the knowledge that at any point, any individual can do harm, while also guiding folks to do good instead. I love abundantly through my work, collaborations, and personal life with the deepest belief that when people are loved they can achieve anything.

When our lives feel most stuck, hopeless, or disconnected, I believe that there is an opportunity for deep self-knowledge and actualization. It’s my goal to empower others to explore their inner worlds and work towards cultivating meaning. As a relational therapist, I understand how important relationships are to our personal well-being and mental health, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship between my clients and myself is extremely important. I view each of my clients as unique individuals, and I place a strong emphasis on understanding their own personal stories, and how they’ve been shaped by these stories. I recognize that the behaviours, thoughts, and feelings that come along can be a lot to care for and organize, and I am happy to support you throughout this process! I offer a relaxed and nonjudgmental space where we can build a comfortable relationship, allowing us to work collaboratively to explore and build upon the strengths and qualities you already possess. I fervently believe in tailoring my therapeutic style to each client, providing interventions that address individual emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs. Friendly and compassionate, I also value humour as an important aspect of the healing process. My approach gives our work together the flexibility to meet your individual needs and goals. I am offering Telehealth services at this time. Please feel free to book a complimentary phone consultation to discuss the type of support you are looking for. I believe that everyone is unique and exploring our inner world can help us appreciate this uniqueness. Our journey and the pain that we go through in our life make each of us special. I provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their pain and the emotions that they are going through. I use a collaborative, strength-based approach to help clients make meaning out of their pain, and find their inner strengths to move forward in their life. If you have any questions, I am happy to speak to you over the phone or via email. If you and I are not the right fit for each other, I would be happy to help you find the right therapist for you.
