Finding the right therapist can be a daunting and intimidating process. This is why I appreciate the strength and courage that it takes to reach out for help. I also admire the ambition and belief that positive change is possible. Therefore, I would be so honoured to support you in identifying your needs, goals, and taking these next steps with you. My goal is to build and maintain a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship with you, so you can feel empowered and confident, in yourself and in your decision making. I provide a comfortable and judgement-free space for you to be able to express yourself and grow. I work from a trauma-informed and person-centered lens so we can collaboratively work together and explore new and productive ways of coping, thinking, and communicating. While this process can be vulnerable and difficult at times, I also aim to bring in plenty of humour and laughter during our work together. For more information on how I do individual or couple therapy, or if you have any questions, do not hesitate to book a free 15-minute phone consultation with me.

Hello, my name is Simone Donaldson and I believe that we often forget that we already possess the answers , strengths, and capability to navigate difficult times, and my hope is to guide people to and through these answers. I also believe if we reminded ourselves that we are inherently valuable and created for a purpose, we would tap into our most healed selves, allowing us to thrive. Psychotherapy is transformational work for the mind, body and soul. I have seen personally and professionally where mental health support can truly change whole lives, and when neglected, completely deteriorate lives. I entered this work, because even at a young age, I was always drawn to ensuring others felt seen, heard, valued and well. I am both an advocate and nurturer at heart. I have my Bachelor’s Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and Master’s from Dalhousie University, which has significantly helped shape my practice, along with lived experiences. I address a variety of concerns including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship conflict, grief, racial trauma, and domestic violence to name a few. I am an eclectic worker and use a variety of modalities which include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) & Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). I am truly excited to support you on your healing journey.

Whatever you’re struggling with, you don’t have to deal with it alone. It’s possible to heal from trauma, find internal peace, and learn new skills that help you transform into the person you want to be and step into the life you want to have. It takes courage to seek support and work through your problems, but with time and commitment, therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. I compassionately treat you as a whole person rather than just a diagnosis; warmly acknowledging and affirming important aspects of your identity such as race, gender, and sexual orientation. I believe in having an honest, collaborative partnership where we work together to resolve your concerns, processing trauma and regulating difficult emotions. I believe that providing a safe and nonjudgmental space is essential to the therapeutic relationship, so rest assured that you can entrust me with your most painful stories. I’m here to support you in recognizing and building upon your strengths as we collaboratively develop strategies to improve your life in meaningful ways.

We all have a story to tell that is uniquely ours. These stories can include our positive experiences but also times when we are faced with challenges that can make us feel stressed, overwhelmed, and unmotivated. As a therapist, I am committed to providing you with a non-judgmental and safe space to tell your story. Whether you are facing a life transition, the effects of trauma, or challenges in your relationships—I want to help you to discover your strengths, embrace self-compassion, and take manageable steps towards your goals. My approach to therapy is holistic and collaborative because I recognize the importance of tailoring to the specific needs, values, and goals of each client. To do this, I draw from cognitive behavioural and emotion focused practices to restructure thoughts and emotions in order to foster healthy relationships with oneself and others. I also use somatic approaches, like mindfulness, to address the ways in which our stress and traumas can dysregulate our bodies. Through strength and solution-focused strategies, I aim to empower clients to develop the confidence and clarity that will help them to overcome any other challenge that may come their way. Regardless of the path we take, I am here to support you. If you have any questions, want information on how therapy works, or want to learn more about how I can support you, you can book a free 15-minute phone consultation.
