As a Black queer social worker of Afro-Caribbean descent, I work using a strengths-based, and trauma-informed lens, with a deep commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice. Much of my experience has been working with BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, particularly navigating racial, institutional and relational trauma. But I have also worked with many other communities. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves, and I am passionate about supporting that journey.
I mostly rely on emotion-focused, compassionate, somatic and mindfulness-based approaches. I am firmly rooted in abolitionist and liberation-based frameworks, and work from a place of deep love for my communities.
I know that seeking support for our mental health is very vulnerable and can feel scary. So, I try my best to create both a safe and brave space where you can be yourself.

Specializing in Expressive Arts Therapy, I extend beyond conventional verbal methods, acknowledging the historical and authentic importance of art in healing for Black African, Africentric, and Black Caribbean communities. I seamlessly incorporate art-based psychotherapeutic practices when assisting both individuals and communities (groups).
In 2024, the “School of Expressive Arts Therapy” will be inaugurating its grand opening. The school is poised to commence by providing training for mental health and humanitarian professionals in Expressive Arts practices—non-traditional therapeutic approaches specifically tailored for collaboration with members of BIPOC communities. Stay tuned for details on the upcoming “Train-the-Helper in Expressive Arts” professional development course.

I have been in the helping profession since 2014 and worked with individuals, families, and communities in Nigeria and Canada. My passion is providing space and healing to people who have been through Traumatic/challenging experiences.
My approach to treatment necessitates therapeutic alliance, which encourages the mutual development of therapy goals. I use the family systems theory as a grounding modality based on the premise that most adult challenges are deeply rooted in childhood experiences. I recognize that no one approach is ideal for every Individual. Therefore, I draw from different clinical modalities like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, Person-centred approach, and biopsychosocial approach trauma-focused therapy. I have amassed training and experience in trauma, abuse, and addiction. I am a part of/have experience working with BIPOC families and communities.
