We all have a story to tell that is uniquely ours. These stories can include our positive experiences but also times when we are faced with challenges that can make us feel stressed, overwhelmed, and unmotivated. As a therapist, I am committed to providing you with a non-judgmental and safe space to tell your story. Whether you are facing a life transition, the effects of trauma, or challenges in your relationships—I want to help you to discover your strengths, embrace self-compassion, and take manageable steps towards your goals. My approach to therapy is holistic and collaborative because I recognize the importance of tailoring to the specific needs, values, and goals of each client. To do this, I draw from cognitive behavioural and emotion focused practices to restructure thoughts and emotions in order to foster healthy relationships with oneself and others. I also use somatic approaches, like mindfulness, to address the ways in which our stress and traumas can dysregulate our bodies. Through strength and solution-focused strategies, I aim to empower clients to develop the confidence and clarity that will help them to overcome any other challenge that may come their way. Regardless of the path we take, I am here to support you. If you have any questions, want information on how therapy works, or want to learn more about how I can support you, you can book a free 15-minute phone consultation.

As a holistic Social Worker, I place a strong emphasis on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions of health and wellness. I work within an inclusive, trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework that incorporates principles of intersectionality. Moreover, I practice from a culturally relevant, client-centred, strength-based, non-judgemental, collaborative approach. With compassion, honesty, warmth, and presence, I hope to hold space for clients to use their innate curiosity and introspection to address the root causes of their challenges, strengthen relationships, and build meaningful social connections. I incorporate elements of various therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Attachment-focused Psychotherapy, Trauma Therapy, and Mindfulness. I include trauma-informed principles into practice, that also considers the impacts of complex trauma, racial trauma, intergenerational and multigenerational trauma on individuals and communities, particularly Black and Indigenous communities.

A client once shared a quote by Ram Dass that resonated with me: “We’re all just walking each other home.” Every time I “walk a client home,” I feel honoured. I believe that everyone is born with an immense amount of strength, but it can be hard to see your strength when you are going through a hard time. My work as a psychologist is built on the foundation of a trusting relationship, a non-judgmental space, and the positive regard I offer to my clients. I work collaboratively with my clients, supporting them in acknowledging and embracing their strengths and moving gently towards change. My passion for helping others has made my counselling journey an exciting one. For me, helping is about meeting my clients where they are and creating a safe space that allows for vulnerability. My work provides opportunities for people to express their feelings, thoughts, and worries, and in return, I offer kindness and expertise. Together with my clients, I assess their readiness for change and provide the help necessary to make decisions and take action. My therapeutic lens is strengths-based and compassionate; I appreciate and attune to individuals’ diversity, culture, and experiences. I am passionate about working with individuals and couples from minority backgrounds, but regardless of your skin colour, gender, culture, or religious background, you are welcome in my counselling space. In addition to my own life experience, my professional experience, both in Canada and abroad, helps to foster a deep understanding of the challenges faced by diverse populations. My focus on the intersectionality of the multiple identities of my clients fosters a safe therapeutic environment, particularly for those with experiences of oppression.
