My journey into psychotherapy is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and passion for helping others. At the tender age of six, I witnessed the horrors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, an event that took my parents’ lives and the majority of my family members and left me and my siblings to navigate life amidst profound trauma and loss. Growing up in orphanages and foster homes, I faced challenges that far exceeded typical childhood experiences. Despite these adversities, I found hope, resilience, and purpose.
Migrating to Canada from Rwanda in 2010 marked a turning point in my life. My journey’s struggles and triumphs have shaped my commitment to mental health advocacy and my desire to support others through their own healing processes. I believe in the power of transformation and the human spirit’s ability to overcome even the most challenging circumstances.Approach to Therapy:As a therapist fluent in French and English, my therapy approach is trauma-informed and person-centered. I offer culturally sensitive therapy tailored to diverse clients, BIPOC, Afro-Black communities, and beyond.Drawing from a rich background in Clinical Counselling, my therapy is tailored to individual needs. It blends psychoeducation on brain health with evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, MBCT, ITATM, and trauma-focused therapies.
