Hello there! I’m a therapist based in Alberta who truly cares about my clients. I always put your needs first and take a client-centred approach to our sessions. I know it can be tough to seek help on your healing journey, but I deeply appreciate and admire your courage and vulnerability. I am passionate about working with the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community. I want you to feel respected and empowered, so I make sure to create culturally sensitive spaces. To help us all feel connected, I use a collectivist healing approach in some of my work. Let’s work together to help you feel your best!
Outside of sessions: When not meeting with clients, you can find me experimenting with new recipes, taking a stroll around city parks or exploring new music on Spotify.
Therapy modalities: Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Interventions, Solution-Focused Therapy, Attachment-based Interventions, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma-Informed Interventions, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, 2SLGBTQIA+ Affirming Care.
Accepting new clients in: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon.

Through psychotherapy, I aim to help enhance your self-awareness, improve your mental health and well-being; help you resolve or mitigate problematic behaviours, thoughts, or emotions; help improve your relationships and social skills; and/or help you thrive in school, at work, or in various performance realms (including sports and the arts). For clients who so desire, I have graduate-level training and extensive clinical experience in helping clients integrate their faith into their psychological healing and growth.

NOTE: Not currently accepting new clients. I work with Black and racialized clients who are discontent, distressed, or stuck as a result of molding themselves to fit expectations others have of them and struggle with being themselves in their relationships and other contexts they are a part of. I help you become more secure in who you are: your authentic selves and self-expression so that you can cultivate relationships with yourself and others that honour these things.
As a Black woman and trained Couple and Family Therapist, I approach therapy relationally and systemically. This means that I pay attention to how your contexts (e.g. society, culture, relationships, etc.)-past and present- influence your experience in various aspects of your life, including your mental wellbeing and relationships.
I work with you to support you in moving from where you are now to where you want be; we examine what might be getting in the way of you reaching that place and how you can navigate these challenges in ways that honour your intersecting identities and values.
My approach is grounded in the values I hold around intersectionality and social justice, anti-oppressive and trauma informed practice, humour, and the therapeutic relationship.
I invite you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we would be a good fit.

Hello, my name is Simone Donaldson and I believe that we often forget that we already possess the answers , strengths, and capability to navigate difficult times, and my hope is to guide people to and through these answers. I also believe if we reminded ourselves that we are inherently valuable and created for a purpose, we would tap into our most healed selves, allowing us to thrive.
Psychotherapy is transformational work for the mind, body and soul. I have seen personally and professionally where mental health support can truly change whole lives, and when neglected, completely deteriorate lives. I entered this work, because even at a young age, I was always drawn to ensuring others felt seen, heard, valued and well. I am both an advocate and nurturer at heart. I have my Bachelor’s Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and Master’s from Dalhousie University, which has significantly helped shape my practice, along with lived experiences.
I address a variety of concerns including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship conflict, grief, racial trauma, and domestic violence to name a few. I am an eclectic worker and use a variety of modalities which include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) & Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). I am truly excited to support you on your healing journey.
