My name is Freda Bizimana and I am a Rwandan Canadian who was born and raised in Canada. I’ve completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto with a passion for working with children, youth, their families, and young adults. I have four years of experience working with Black and racialized youth in conflict with the law and supporting them with navigating the criminal justice system, school system, and conflict with peers and family. I’ve worked with youth both one-on-one and in group settings discussing topics such as identity, anger and aggression, strengths and coping skills, and healthy/ unhealthy relationships. I love to motivate and encourage others to express themselves and incorporate art such as music into the space to help clients articulate themselves. I am a big proponent of using non-traditional methods of therapy to help support and motivate clients to share their stories. The modalities I have experience working with are CBT, attachment work, and Hip-Hop Therapy. I work through an Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Black, Anti-Racist, and Trauma-Informed lens and my approach is both client-centred and strength-based. I believe my role is to support you in your journey and help you build the tools to work through any obstacle life throws at you by providing a space to express and grow. By using the strengths and skills you already have, we can build healthy coping skills that work for you so you can continue practicing self-care and self-love.

Let’s be honest, life is hard, and in many ways, we juggle more today than we ever have! Unfortunately, life’s challenges can leave us feeling stressed, confused, de-motivated—and in some cases, even helpless and hopeless. It can be a tough road to travel, and unfortunately, many folks feel like they’re walking that path alone, unsure of who to turn to or what to do next. As a therapist, I don’t think anyone should feel that way, so in my work, I commit to supporting my clients, guiding them, and connecting them to resources that can benefit them. With past experience working with youth, students, adults, and parents, I enjoy collaborating with clients on a variety of challenges. From addressing past and current traumas to coping with physical and mental barriers, stress, anxiety, depression, family or career changes, I’ve helped clients find systems that work for them and achieve long-lasting change. Of course, there may be multiple layers to the challenges you face, and as a woman of colour, I know firsthand how some barriers can make circumstances feel particularly difficult or challenging to navigate. As a result, my goal is to consistently be there for my clients, help them consider various options and perspectives, work with them through the trials and tribulations, and remain a constant source of support, empathy and hope. At the end of the day, I consider it a privilege to do the work I do and I would be honoured to work with you! Through our time together, it’s my hope that you feel like you’re building a stronger sense of confidence, clarity and community and that ultimately, you walk away feeling more capable and ready to take on whatever’s next. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to any new clients and would be happy to respond to any inquiries via phone or email. Thank you, and I look forward to working with you!

I am an Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppressive Educator and Life Coach, specializing in Conflict Resolution that utilizes an Anti-Oppressive framework. I’m a passionate observer of how theoretical discourse lags behind the expertise of lived experience. I couch my Anti-Racism education in an Anti-Oppressive framework; with the knowledge that at any point, any individual can do harm, while also guiding folks to do good instead. I love abundantly through my work, collaborations, and personal life with the deepest belief that when people are loved they can achieve anything.

When our lives feel most stuck, hopeless, or disconnected, I believe that there is an opportunity for deep self-knowledge and actualization. It’s my goal to empower others to explore their inner worlds and work towards cultivating meaning. As a relational therapist, I understand how important relationships are to our personal well-being and mental health, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship between my clients and myself is extremely important. I view each of my clients as unique individuals, and I place a strong emphasis on understanding their own personal stories, and how they’ve been shaped by these stories. I recognize that the behaviours, thoughts, and feelings that come along can be a lot to care for and organize, and I am happy to support you throughout this process! I offer a relaxed and nonjudgmental space where we can build a comfortable relationship, allowing us to work collaboratively to explore and build upon the strengths and qualities you already possess. I fervently believe in tailoring my therapeutic style to each client, providing interventions that address individual emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs. Friendly and compassionate, I also value humour as an important aspect of the healing process. My approach gives our work together the flexibility to meet your individual needs and goals. I am offering Telehealth services at this time. Please feel free to book a complimentary phone consultation to discuss the type of support you are looking for. If you feel that I would not be a good fit for you, I would be happy to refer you to another therapist. I look forward to connecting with you!

I believe that everyone is unique and exploring our inner world can help us appreciate this uniqueness. Our journey and the pain that we go through in our life make each of us special. I have helped individuals, couples and families to discover their pain and realize how it impacts themselves and their relationships. The new meaning and insight that we gain from this exploration helps us accept and love our unique selves, and build deeper relationships with our loved ones. I provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their pain and the emotions that they are going through. I use a collaborative, strength-based approach to help clients make meaning out of their pain, and find their inner strengths to move forward in their life. If you have any questions, I am happy to speak to you over the phone or via email. If you and I are not the right fit for each other, I would be happy to help you find the right therapist for you.

“I am not what has happened to me; I am what I choose to become.” –Carl Jung. If you are stuck in the “I wish things had been different” mode,” and feel like there is little hope for change in your life, therapy provides an avenue to be heard, to grieve, to discover acceptance, and to create a new path forward, as you and I work together to formulate small, but consistent steps toward your goal. I believe that each person is unique and brings individual strengths and skills to forge new paths in their lives and in their relationships. I work with both individuals and couples. My particular strengths are working with the mind-body connection in areas such as mindfulness to address the overtaxed central nervous system, experiential therapy to process the authenticity and intuition of emotions, and cognitive behavioural therapy to restructure thoughts that contribute to dysfunctional relationship with self and others. I have also trained in Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and bring a working knowledge of integrating Spirituality into your mental health care plan, if so desired. My own journey in mental health has embodied the mind, body and spirit, to heal and thrive. I provide a safe, and compassionate space so that you can feel heard and supported to move toward the change you seek. If you want to discover whether I can be the right therapist for you, I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
